Day 2 with Matt

Wow...second entry has been a battle. Above is a picture of us with the director of New Day. I have said it before and I'll say it again...this place is amazing! We had the chance to chat and dine with several families and interns after getting a tour of the factory and children's facilities and English class rooms. There are students here from around the world. Some work with the children/babies, some work with the students, some work with medical staff, and some work with business staff. Some are earning college credit and are here for a semester while others are here for only a few days to weeks and are just wanting to serve and explore their passions. Wonderful young people with mature servant hearts wanting to please our Lord and others being touched while here...not necessarily seeking the Way but finding it through the outpouring of love found in this compound.

We have also met families some with kids and some couples...making a certain time committment to be part of the team serving in some way. The families that are here are such an example of servants...figuring out how to fit in a school schedule around serving the mission of New Day in some way. Some of these families have been involved in adoption...others not...just hearing and honoring the call to serve. Evan has hooked up with a group of boys his age and has had a great time playing basketball and water fights


So, on to our little buddy. The morning started with prayer and we were able to share the story of how the Lord lead us to Matt. Karen, pictured above, asked us to do so because so many people have been praying for him for years now and she knew it would bless them to hear how the Lord intervened. After that, we spent 2.5 hours with Matt in preschool, met with the preschool director, New Day Doc, and Foster Mom and were allowed a time slot of asking questions in the afternoon. You could sure tell how much they all loved him. Then in the early evening we were able to walk to the Foster Mom's home and spend two hours visiting. I will save a separate entry for that one. The day concluded with a "western" style barbeque (hamburgers and hot dogs). Evan was thrilled as he asked the other day if all we were ever going to eat was Chinese food? Hello?! Where are we?!


The bonding has been going quite well I think. It is a baby step process, but these incremental periods of time we are getting to spend with Matt have been really good. We are starting to get used to each other...except for the part where we don't speak the same language:O) Please keep praying for this bonding journey. We have our solo morning and lunch with him tomorrow and then he says goodbye to the only home he has ever known. I will try to post later about the evening at her home...it was very impacting. Thanks so much for all the prayers...I personally got 6 hours sleep last night with only 1 wake up...my head is on with a little more grip today...PTL! All I can say is He is amazing...the stories of the many here...the testimonies...all a tribute to His goodness and plans to draw all unto Him.
